    These instructions make reference to use as it applies to installing Wordpress, but the basic set up is the same regardless of what type of website you are using.

Go to START — COMPUTER — right click on a blank area and select ADD A NETWORK LOCATION — click on CHOOSE A CUSTOM NETWORK LOCATION –

If you have Wordpress installed on the main domain name that your web hosting account is under proceed with:

Enter the ftp address, you can find it in the ftp manager in the cpanel of your website, it should be something like ftp://ftp.yourmaindomainname.com (or .net etc…) — enter your user name, it is listed in your ftp manager section as well, it is probably the same as your main webhosting user name –type in a nickname for this location for easy reference — click FINISH — when the window pops up, you will need to enter your password (probably the same as the main one for your webhost)

If you have Wordpress installed on an add-on domain name proceed with:

Enter the ftp address, you can find it in the ftp manager in the cpanel of your website, it should be something like ftp://YourWordpressDomainName@ftp.yourmaindomainname.com (or .net etc…) — enter your user name, it is listed in your ftp manager section as well, it is probably YourWordpressWebsiteAddress@YourMainWebsiteAddress.com (or .net etc…) –type in a nickname for this location for easy reference — click FINISH — when the window pops up, you will need to enter your password (probably the same as the main one for your webhost, unless you specified a different one in your ftp manager)

Now whenever you want to ftp something to your site, just go to START — COMPUTER — select the nickname for that website — navigate to the folder you want to upload to, and just Drag and Drop the files from wherever you have them saved on your computer. This is the easiest and fastest method I’ve come across. If you do not have Windows Vista, then you will need to follow the instructions included with the ftp program you select to get set up.
